Welcome to Rusty Spurr Ranch, Colorado's premier horse outfit as featured on Colorado Getaways. Horseback riding is one of the many unique outdoor activities that Colorado has to offer, and our Dude Ranch lies right in the middle of a pristine, 10,000 acre plot of open range. We have five full time wranglers on staff, and a variety of part time cowboys and cowgirls who have a long history of experience with cattle, horses and ranching. We offer a variety of unique experiences to accommodate any equine desires our guests might have, from full and half day horseback trail rides through the range, to genuine cattle drives, and even team building exercises for your corporate retreat. As an example, our “Saddle Paddle” will help you maximize your vacation time by merging the best of the Colorado dude ranch experience with whitewater rafting. This adventure package gives you the chance to spend a beautiful morning riding our horses on the trail, followed by an afternoon with our friends from KODI Rafting as you wash the dust of the trail off while rafting a beautiful stretch of the famous Colorado River.

Rusty Spurr ranch is a short, beautiful drive away from Dillon, Frisco, Breckenridge and Leadville; close enough to be convenient, yet far enough from the crowded towns that you can have a true western ranching experience in a single day.

Rusty Spurrs’ cowboys and cowgirls love to take people out on our undeveloped and diverse landscape, far from the hotels and highways and busy tourist spots. Ride the silent trails and breathe the clean mountain air as you navigate your horse through tranquil aspen and evergreen forests. Marvel at the unrivaled panoramic mountain views of the Continental Divide, Never Summer, and Gore ranges. Learn a new skill or challenge yourself by taking part in a true Colorado cattle drive, with friends or the entire family. Ranch living is more than a summer pastime; for us, it’s a way of life, and a passion. Our wranglers are all old hands at riding horses and punching cattle, and some of us live on the range year-round. We enjoy spending time with each guest as we rope and ride, whether we’re helping out with your riding skills or answering questions, or just getting to know each other. Our dude ranch is full of surprises, from the lively stables at Cow Camp to ruins of homesteader cabins out on the range, plus the chance to spot elk, antelope, deer and other Colorado wildlife. Step out of the towns and into the wilds, and allow us the opportunity to extend our hospitality and services to you and your family

 

POLICIES

	All rides require advanced reservations to ensure availability.
	Private rides require a two-person minimum.
	Age minimums are 13 for the Outlaw Ride 10 for Cattle Drives and 7 for Trail Rides.
	The horses have a 240 lb. weight limit.
	All reservations are subject to a 48-hour cancellation policy.
	We ride in all weather including rain and snow.
	Weather cancellations shall be exclusively the decision of the Rusty Spurr Ranch.
	Please remember that the weather patterns in this area are highly localized and more often than not it is sunny here when it is raining in the ski area towns.
