About Us

The Rusty Spurr Ranch Story
Your Colorado Horseback Riding Experts

We’d like to introduce ourselves and extend a warm western welcome! We are Han and Connie Smith, and along with our son Wyatt, we own and operate the Rusty Spurr Ranch in Kremmling, Colorado.

The Rusty Spurr Ranch began in 2001 with the idea to deliver the most authentic and unique horseback riding experience in the Rocky Mountains. We wanted to share our passion for Western heritage, ranching, and 50-plus years of combined horsemanship with those who have always wanted to experience the cowboy way. Operating across 10,000 acres of undeveloped Colorado ranch country, we have found a unique way to share our stewardship of this land and the livestock that sustain us. It’s a mix of agri-tourism and a whole lot of fun when our guests join us in checking and moving cows or visiting historic ranch homesteads and learning about the value of horses, cattle and land in our ranching culture.

What sets us apart from the standard horseback tour operators? We took the the iconic western vacation activity and made it even better. We put our guests first in every way. Safety is paramount in our operation and providing gentle and healthy horses on small group rides plus trained equestrian guides is essential to achieving that goal. Next, we ensure that each guest has the best experience possible through personalized horse pairing and coaching, excellent customer service and organized scheduling. Lastly, we can’t brag enough about the beautiful scenery that inspires our guests and is the reason so many come to vacation in Colorado.

From start to finish, your time with us is special; you chose the Rusty Spurr Ranch for a reason. Our goal is that you have fun, make memories and find the same inspiration in horses and nature that we do. We strive to be the best horseback riding Breckenridge CO and the Vail, Steamboat, and Winter Park areas has available. Whether you’re an old friend or new at the ranch, come on by for a ride and we’ll show you the horses and mountains that started it all.

Your Hosts,

Han, Connie and Wyatt Smith
